Agriturismo “La Dolce Mela” by Studio Raro: Honest Beautiful Concept on Alpine

Not far from the city of Trento, located in the beautiful natural environment of the Valley of the Lakes, Studio Raro brilliantly builds the rural house “La Dolce Mela“. The goal of the project is to expand the accommodation for guests of a farm and the new house for the farm farmer.

The new rooms for guests are two small volumes located near the edge of the property, thus leaving the central space free to house a play area composed of the garden and the bio-pool.

In the southern part of the farm, there is uncultivated land that opens onto the spectacular landscape. This construction follows the same architectural, formal, and material concept of the extension.

The residence, embedded in the terrain, seems to emerge from within it. Its placement takes advantage of the natural unevenness without interrupting the extension of the panoramic views of the rest of the farm.

The green roof blends with the surrounding forest and fields and blends into the green space outside the rural house, creating continuity with the garden.

The new elements are abstract and contemporary single-story volumes that do not seek to create an impact on the natural environment but neither do they want to be confused with it.

The two main materials selected for the entire realization of the project give it a modern and elegant image but at the same time,  recall the context in which the constructions are located.

On the one hand, exposed concrete is used, previously formwork with larch wood that provides the texture of the knot and vein footprint as a finish. The concrete establishes a dialogue between the buildings and the existing natural rock wall in the eastern part of the property.

On the other hand, the same Alpine larch wood has been used to build the staircase that forms part of the exterior route of the farm and divides the farm building in two.

Likewise, this wood covers a large part of the interiors and in particular some of the rooms, where it has been used to reproduce decorative elements of the typical tradition of the area.

There is a strong relationship of continuity between the interior and exterior of the buildings throughout the project, achieved in part with the use of few materials that give unity to the whole, but mainly through the large windows.
