Oris released their first Big Crown Pointer Date watch in 1938. The Date Pointer model is easily recognizable because of the existence of a circular date on the edge of the dial. Plus the watchmaker uses the fourth needle to designate the exact date.
Since then, Oris has continued to produce various iterations of Date Pointers. And what was just released last month is the limited edition Pointer Date to celebrate the 80th anniversary of its birth.
The 80th-anniversary edition of Oris Pointer Date has a 40 mm diameter bronze casing, a forest green dial, and a brown leather strap connected via a bronze clasp, too. At first glance, it almost resembles some of the previous Oris Big Crown models. However, the 80th edition of Oris Pointer Date has a red date needle tip, which no other model has.
“The backside of the watch shows the Oris caliber 754 movement. A movement based on Sellita’s SW200-1 with a power reserve of 38 hours and ticking at 28800bph. The crystal used of the case back is mineral glass. On the front, you will find a double domed sapphire crystal.”
The 80th-anniversary edition of Oris Pointer Date features an automatic movement developed by Oris themselves. Wrapped in stainless steel casing and translucent glass minerals on the back. While the upper part of the glass is a dome with an anti-reactive layer inside. Water resistance to a depth of 50 meters
