It is a residential project located in Wanaka, New Zealand. Designed by Condon Scott Architects, Highfield Ridge House is a three-bedroom house nestled in an elevated kanuka-covered site. A simple mono-pitch design is used and also developed to sit quietly within the established native bush.
Design
This beautiful house is located on Little Mt Iron in Wanaka, nestled in an elevated kanuka-covered site. This house is designed with a simple monopitch design using a palette of dark cedar and metal. The combination of design and materials is developed to create a comfortable house that match with nature of its site.
Spaces
This house is oriented to the northwest, capitalizing on the stunning outlook to the alpine and lake vista beyond. It also has a deep verandah that regulates the harsh sun of Central Otago in summer months. There is also a sheltered rear courtyard with awesome mountains views through the main living area of the house.
This sheltered rear courtyard is not only a relaxed place to enjoy the view but also a protection from the wind of prevailing northwesterly. Through the windows and glazed doors, one can easily enjoy the views from inside the house.
