Leica Q-P: An artful statement of understatement

Leica Q P 7

As a very well-known brand, Leica is frequently taking on the path to re-launch special editions of its existing products. Just take a look at Leica Q. The full-frame compact sensor camera has so far been available in two limited editions.

Leica Q P 6

Recently, Leica re-introduced the new edition of Leica Q. This time it’s not a limited quantity, but a new variant called Leica Q-P. The “P” frill basically indicates the focus on the stealthy aspect, as previously indicated by the Leica M10-P.

Stealth Impression

The stealthy impression was implied by the loss of Leica’s distinctive red logo on the front, replaced by the brand carving on the top plate. This kind of design approach is basically aimed at street photographers, who often don’t want to draw attention when they are ‘hunting’ in the corners of the city.

Another update carried by Q-P is located on the shutter button. Leica says the tactile sensation of this button is more pronounced than the standard Leica Q. It may sound trivial, but it is quite helpful for those who take hundreds of photos every day.

Same Superior Image Quality

Leica Q P 3

The rest, Q-P is no different from ordinary Q. The embedded full-frame sensor is still the same and still has a 24-megapixel resolution, as is the installed 28mm f / 1.7 ASPH Summilux lens. The viewfinder and 3-inch touch screen are the same, each with a resolution of 3.68 million and 1.04 million dots.

Other features that can be found in this camera, among others, the ability to shoot without stopping 10fps, can record Full HD 60fps video and is equipped with WiFi with the support of Leica FOTOS application.

Leica Q P 2

“The built-in Wi-Fi module on the Leica Q-P makes it easy to share your pictures and videos on social networks. Images can be downloaded conveniently to your smartphone via WLAN and the complimentary Leica FOTOS app.”

Premium Price

Leica Q P 8

To boost its appearance, the Leica Q-P also features a brown leather strap and the sales package is included with a spare battery. About the price, if the standard Leica Q is priced at $ 4,250, the Leica Q-P must be redeemed more expensive for $ 4,995. The price includes a leather strap and a spare battery.
