In collaboration with Blackwell Engineering, KOHN SHNIER Architects has been completed a residential project in central Toronto called Richmond House. It is a compact house that has a distant vista and also intimate views as unique characters for the house’s interior spaces.
Elements
It is a modern house that sits in the central area of Toronto. This house is bisected by a gracious open riser stair laterally. There are also more enclosed program elements that can be found alongside the central spine of the house, allowing for unencumbered living spaces facing onto the rear yard and a nearby street.
Interior and Exterior
The interior spaces of this compact house are characterized by the distant vista and intimate views while the house exterior is defined by a crisp red brick. This brick connects the house to the streetscape. Besides the brick, there is also a tough zinc cladding that ties the house seamlessly into the adjacent laneways.
