Pool
It is an awesome pool that used throughout the year. During winter, this pool is covered with an inflatable hall and also used for swimming training. In summer, this pool becomes an outdoor swimming pool. A more permanent, more durable, and stylish solution is chosen by the architect for this renovation project.
Design
An openable, air-filled plastic roof with high insulation qualities is the more permanent, more durable, and stylish solution in this project. The architect also chooses a specific location for the pool next to the Oude Rijn. It is a place with distinct traces to the Roman period and becomes an inspiration for the design of the new pool.
An appropriate setting for the new pool is required due to the ritual of bathing and saunas which was an important part of Roman society. The design provides good circulation too around the pool with some pillars that also support the awesome openable roof. This circulation also acts as a grandstand during competitions.
