It is an extensive renovation project with a design that maintains the building’s modest Victorian facade. Walker Residence is renovated by KOHN SHNIER Architects with a multi-story glass wall as the star of this project. This renovation results in a modern comfortable house with awesome views that can be seen through the glazing wall.
The modest Victorian facade of this house is maintained instead of focusing the house design energies on its large rear yard with a reflecting pool and new garden. The highlight of this project is the multi-storey glass wall because most of the rooms are re-oriented to take advantage of its strong and transformative power.
Washrooms and service areas of the house are tucked into side pockets as much as possible. This way allows the house floor plan to flow smoothly from the front to the back area. It also creates long views and filters light deep into the house’s interior spaces.
