Since being managed by HMD Global, there have been quite a number of Nokia smartphones released to the market, ranging from the lower class to the flagship ones. One of their latest gadgets is Nokia 7.1.

Premiered in London, HMD Global officially launched another new device under the ranks of the Android One smartphone program in the form of Nokia 7.1. As the name implies, the new Nokia 7.1 still rests on the foundation left by its predecessors, Nokia 7 and Nokia 7 Plus.

 

Staying in the Norm

In its debut, Nokia 7.1 tried to stay in trend, packing a Full HD + 5.84-inch screen and presenting a notch at the top of the device. HMD Global also includes a chin at the bottom of the screen that also serves as a home to the Nokia logo. What distinguishes, Nokia 7.1 Plus now packs PureDisplay technology that offers increased contrast and HDR10 support.

The back cover design on the Nokia 7.1 offers perfect components in the form of glass with a 6000 series aluminum frame with diamond cut chamfers. As a finishing touch, HMD Global polishes it with contrasting color choices, Midnight Blue and Gloss Steel Gloss. At the very bottom, there is also an additional USB Type-C port to fill the 3060 mAh battery that is carried, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Nokia 7.1 runway sector is in the middle tier by adopting the Snapdragon 636 chipset which has 1.8GHz speed along with two options of RAM, 3GB, and 4GB and 32GB and 64GB internal storage. Both variants both support additional external memory up to 400GB.

 

Let’s Get Closer to The Notch

Inside the notch, an 8MP front camera is embedded with f / 2.0 openings for all selfie needs. While on the back sits a dual camera with a 12MP sensor and 5MP which presents ZEISS optics. The main 12MP sensor offers 1.28 Um pixels, f / 1.8 aperture, and Electronic Image Stabilization, while the second sensor has an f / 2.4 aperture.

Trying to go big, especially while carrying a big name ZEISS, HMD has also included several leading software features to help users use the Nokia 7.1 camera. For example, the Pro Camera Mode mode that is able to give control of features such as white balance, ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. Then there is also a feature that allows Nokia 7.1 owners to take photos and videos with the front and rear cameras.

 

Oreo Stock

Nokia 7.1 is embedded with the Oreo stock Android operating system. But because it is incorporated into the Android One program, the Nokia 7.1 is sure to get support for security patches every month for three years and OS updates for the next two years. Thus, support for Android 9.0 Pie is clearly coming soon.

To present this smartphone in international markets, HMD Global has collaborated with a number of e-commerce for pre-order orders, including Amazon, Best Buy, and B & H. The official Nokia 7.1 sells for $ 349 for the 3GB / 32GB RAM / ROM variant.
