Troy Bayliss is an Australian racer, who throughout his career has always been the Ducati rider in the Superbike World Championship. As a tribute to having brought Ducati 3 times champion in Superbike, Ducati presents a special motorcycle called Ducati Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary.
There is the number 21 that Bayliss is proud of when racing on the Ducati 996 R, which won the inaugural title of the 2001 Superbike World Champion.
The motorbike comes with a livery inspired by Bayliss’ ’21’, using the base Ducati Panigale V2 and red color as the pride of Ducati. Added green and white colors as the spirit of the manufacturer based in Bologna, Italy. Plus the Shell logo, strengthening it as a racing bike, is embedded on each side of the motorcycle fairing.
As for the components, it is ready to race with Ohlins suspension. Type NX30 for the front with a main distance of 120 mm and TTX36 for the rear suspension with a main distance of 130 mm, guaranteeing steady execution of every bend in the circuit.
Compared to the standard version, the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary is claimed to be 3 kg lighter. The Ducati technicians apparently replaced the motorcycle battery with a lithium-ion version, then there was no passenger seat so it became a single seater.
The Panigale V2 is packing a 955 cc double-cylinder Superquadro (full Euro 5). The power that is deployed from the engine is 155 hp at 10,750 rpm while the torque is 104 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The six-speed transmission features the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) EVO 2.
The chassis relies on a monocoque shape made of aluminum, supported by an elegant and sporty design inspired by the Panigale V4. The motorbike use 17 light alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Roso Corsa II 120/70 ZR17 tires for the front. While the rear tires are 180/60 ZR17.
