The clients are also determined to remodel the existing cabin after completing the weaving studio higher up on the same site. This existing cabin is located lower down the slope from the new studio in San Juan. Transformed by Prentiss Balance Wickline Architects, a strong association between the new and the old also can be created in San Juan Remodel.
Design
The architect works with the landscape and a series of angled concrete volumes to remodel this existing cabin to create a strong association between the new and the old. An entry, flow, and connection in a firm yet subtle way also can be suggested thanks to the concrete forms.
Layout
The same steel panel roofing/siding material is used to tie the remodel process to the weaving studio. This cabin is also designed with a contemporary look without changing a lot of its fundamental layout of walls, windows, and doors. This look takes advantage of the cabin space inside and outside.
