All-New Kia Seltos is an important model for Kia since the car has an important role in expanding Kia’s global footprint. Kia has adapted its strengths in design, quality, and technology to meet the needs of modern customers.
The exterior design of Seltos seems to make it incomparable with other current Kia models. The combination of the headlamps and grille designs on the front fascia at a glance is similar to the British premium SUV, Range Rover.
However, Kia still asserted its distinctive identity through Tiger Nose design language on the grille, which is decorated with chrome textured accents.
The main lights are fully LEDs, accompanied by daytime running lights (DRL) which are connected from the main lights on the front grille. The dashing appearance in the front is followed by a bumper equipped with a large skidplate, touching two-tone colors like a true SUV.
The side view is not monotone thanks to the body cladding application on each door, which gives a dynamic and modern impression. 17-inch dual-tone five-tone alloy wheels also support the dynamic character of the Seltos design, equipped with disc brakes throughout the wheels and ground clearance as high as 190 mm.
The headlights design line is followed by the rear lights, complete with a full LED combination. The addition of chrome trim on the trunk door adds a touch of luxury to the Kia Seltos.
Shades of black dominate the cabin, with a minimalist but firm design. The combination of practicality, luxury and sophistication are well offered.
Leather creates the impression of luxury in the Kia Seltos‘ cabin, which coats the steering wheel and all the seats in the front and back,. Interestingly, the upholstery has a diamond-style texture, which is generally present in premium cars.
The seating position for the driver can be adjusted in 8 directions, which include tilt and telescopic steering settings. The steering wheel design itself tends to be sporty with a flat-bottom shape, which adds to the practicality when maneuvering.
Since it was built to share a base with the Hyundai Kona, the Seltos dashboard and center console layout are very identical to Kona. The 8-inch infotainment touch screen, the design of the transmission lever, to the position of the available compartments.
As for the infotainment system, Kia has equipped Seltos with compatibility for smartphone connections via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Besides being connected to the reverse camera, the head unit is also supported by Bluetooth voice recognition.
Seltos gets a 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder Kappa engine with a power output of 138 hp and 242 Nm of torque. The engine and transmission are supported with the Drive Traction Selector feature, to give a choice of driving mode settings as needed.
For the Drive mode there are three choices namely Sport, Eco, and Normal, while the Traction mode also comes with three options; Snow, Mud, and Sand.
The body structure of the Seltos is produced with a rigid but lightweight composite iron and aluminum material. The material, called Advanced High-Strength Steel, is able to reduce vibrations from road contours while absorbing energy during a collision.
For safety, there are 6 airbags for the front row (EX, EX +), while for the lowest variant there are only two airbags. For the driver, Kia provides Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill Assist Control (HAC) features.
In addition, there are also a series of features such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake-force Assist (BA), Traction Control (TC), and four parking sensor points.
There are six color choices for the exterior of Seltos, Glacier White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl, Intelligence Blue, Intense Red, Steel Silver, and Punchy Orange.
