The three new TWS earphones in the LG TONE Free FP 2021 series inherit several features from the previous generation, such as the ergonomic design for a more comfortable fit, the sound tuned by Meridian, the UVnano self-cleaning charging case (in two of the three models) and IPX4 rating for splash resistance.
Two of the important features are 3D Sound Stage, to expand the soundstage, and Meridian Audio’s spatial processing, which, according to LG, envelops the user in sound that seems to come from all directions.
Active noise cancellation (present in two models) eliminates low-frequency sounds that cannot be completely blocked, while the three microphones included in the new headphones neutralize ambient noise.
In addition, the new Whisper Mode allows greater privacy because it is possible to hold the right earbud close to your mouth as if it were a microphone in places like a library or a crowded subway.
The FP5 and FP8 are easily paired by Bluetooth, while the FP9 include Plug & Wireless, allowing the charging case to be used as a wireless dongle to connect to a compatible device via a USB-C to AUX cable.
From the LG TONE Free app, it is possible to access an equalizer, activate the ambient sound mode, customize the touch control, locate the headphones if they are lost, and even access Whisper Mode and Game Mode.
LG promises up to 10 hours of playback on a charge and a total of 24 hours of use if used with the charging case. In addition, they support fast charging, so that 5 minutes in the case provides 1 hour of usage time. Meanwhile, the LG TONE Free FP8 also supports wireless charging.
The new LG TONE Free FP series will be available starting this month in a number of markets that LG has not confirmed yet. They will be marketed in Charcoal Black (black) or Pearl White (white), although the FP8 and FP9 will also be available in Haze Gold (gold).
