CR-V Hybrid 2020 model was finally making its public appearance. Most people will notice the exterior enhancements to the new SUV that include bolder design. The rim was redesigned plus, the new Honda Sensing safety technology was also added.
For the United States market, the CR-V Hybrid was built at the Honda Greensburg factory. The company injected $ 4.2 million in the capital and added 34 new jobs, to support the production of the CR-V Hybrid. Whereas the Russells Point plant, Ohio, which produces two-motor drive power units.
This hybrid vehicle promises to increase fuel efficiency significantly. The sophisticated CR-V drive system was adopted from the current Accord Hybrid.
There is a combination of two electric motors, with a 2.0 liter 16-valve Atkinson DOHC cycle engine. The carmaker claims that the thermal efficiency is more than 40 percent which is the highest number of Honda’s engine mass-production models.
The CR-V two-motor system operates without the need to use an automatic transmission for power distribution to the wheels. As a replacement, Honda has a technology called Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD), and this particular tech is grafted specifically into the hybrid powertrain.
The mechanism of the i-MMD is that the engine is directly divided into three different drive modes: EV Drive (100% electric motor), Hybrid Drive (electric motor and gasoline engine that drives the generator), and Engine Drive (gasoline engine only).
The All-New Honda CR-V Hybrid will utilize power from the i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine and electric motor to adjust driving conditions. The car has a maximum power of 212 HP. Honda said, there was a 50 percent increase in fuel consumption compared to the usual CR-V.
Plus, the intelligent power unit (IPU), which contains a battery and control system, is installed under the car floor. The tech allows the CR-V Hybrid to have a good cargo utility, including a rear backrest that can split 60/40.
This model also marks the first all-wheel drive (AWD) technology on hybrid models in the US market. In the case where available traction is low, the electronic clutch is activated, sending additional power from the electric motor to the rear wheels.

Though the classic impression is still embedded on the design of the car, Honda put on a fresh thick sized grille and clean lines to add a luxurious vibe. Besides the Honda identity badge, the All-New Honda CR-V Hybrid also got the simple yet luxurious headlamps.
The change in the exterior design is limited to a set of bar-type LED fog lights, blue Honda logos, Hybrid badging, and recessed exhausts. The CR-V also features wider openings for fog lamps, dark taillights, and dark chrome treatments for decoration under the rear glass.
The new CR-V Hybrid also gets a unique instrument panel that shows hybrid-specific information about power/charging status and more, a set of deceleration selector knobs behind the wheel, and three driving modes available.
All versions of the All-New Honda CR-V Hybrid will adopt a redesigned center console design and now offer more flexible storage options and wireless phone charging.
All-New Honda CR-V Hybrid has four variants, Hybrid LX, Hybrid EX, Hybrid EX-L, and Hybrid Touring. The cheapest variant of the car has a price tag of $ 27,750 while the most expensive variant of this hybrid car is marketed at $ 35,950.
