The new BMW X6: A leader with broad shoulders.

The first generation luxury crossover from this series was first introduced in April 2008. It was marketed as a sports activity coupé (SAC) by BMW, combining the superiority of SUVs and coupé style with a sloping roof behind. After 11 years, BMW finally introduced the third generation X6 which will go on sale at the end of this year.

The new exterior appearance of the new BMW X6 gets a design that is in line with the appearance of the latest BMW models. And in general, seen from the outside, the car is getting more handsome than the second generation even though the grille is looking a lil bit too large.

BMW designers clearly choose a more aggressive look, starting with larger air intakes on the bumper. The main design elements, including spoilers and air holes on the bumpers in front of the wheels, aim to reduce turbulence around the front wheels and have a significant impact on vehicle aerodynamics, as well as improving fuel consumption and performance.

What’s interesting on the front exterior of the new BMW X6 is that even though it has a large grille, it also gets a light that also lights up when the DRL is on. It’s not such a significant improvement, but the change is giving the flashy impression of the new BMW X6.

The new X6 model does get an extra with a 42 mm wheelbase longer than its predecessor. The exterior side of the BMW X6 is also made 26 mm longer and 15 mm wider. The decision of BMW to emphasizes style compared to the practicality of driving seen from the height of a 6 mm trimmed car, although it looks no different. This, of course, has an impact on lower headroom.

High trimming makes the rear view looks more sleek to reinforce the coupé’s impression on this car. The double-bubble roofline flows into the twin spoilers above the rear glass.

The alterations to the exterior of the BMW X6 is clearly visible on the taillights that are longer and stylish. There is also an air flow in the rear bumper, right in front of the wheel to provide wind flow to improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.

Inside, the new X6 gets a more driver-focused layout, with a reconfigurable cluster of the latest version of the BMW iDrive infotainment system. The customers can also choose the Audiophile Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System through 20 separate speakers.

Parting ways in the overall design of its predecessor, it is clear that the difference in design is increasingly futuristic for the new BMW X6. The loss of wood accents is replaced with chrome accents, the touch screen display adorns the infotainment system and instrument clusters that are larger than the second generation. The use of a rotary knob is also minimized with a more minimalist head unit.

BMW’s multi-function steering wheel that has been applied to various new models introduced in recent years. The X6’s steering wheel is also equipped with chrome accents in the center. To make it easier for the costumes, the steering wheel of the BMW X6 2019 has got a paddle shift that will help shift the gears.

As we stated earlier, BMW’s desire to make the X6 slimmer and tilted with a height of 6 mm certainly reduce the headroom of the new BMW X6. It might be concerning a bit but this is the problem for all the coupé-like cars that have often been seen lately.
